How does tooth decay occur?

Decay happens when teeth lose minerals — the substance they are mostly made of — because of acids made by bacteria.

Tooth decay does not start with a hole on the surface that you can see. Instead, it begins quietly under the surface, without any pain.

This first stage is called early-stage decay, and it happens in the enamel—the strong outer layer of the tooth.

Contrary to popular belief, decay does not start with a hole, but it develops below the tooth surface. At this initial stage, the tooth loses minerals in the enamel.
This phase is known as early tooth decay.

If left untreated, a cavity forms requiring drilling and filling. Additionally, untreated decay can lead to a higher risk of secondary diseases and severe health issues.

Healthy tooth

  • Enamel: The outermost layer of the tooth crown and hardest tissue in the body, made of hydroxyapatite, a natural mineral.
  • Dentin: Supports the enamel and protects the pulp.
  • Pulp: Innermost vital part containing blood vessels and nerves.

How does Curodont™ work?

The vVARDIS formula, applied to the enamel surface, diffuses into the tooth, where early-stage decay is present. Once inside, it can halt the progression of decay and regenerate lost enamel minerals by attracting calcium and phosphate from saliva, just as nature does during tooth formation.

Within 5 minutes, the Curodont™ technology diffuses into the lesion.

Once inside the tooth, the innovative formula stops initial decay and remineralises the enamel, regenerating it from within.
